Saul Goodman Business Card Size

A standard US business card measures 3.5 × 2 inches (89 × 51 mm). A Saul Goodman card designed in SaulCard exports as a 6400×3600 px PNG at 16:9, so ask your print shop to trim or scale it to 3.5 × 2 inches and to confirm the safe area.

Standard business card sizes by region

The standard US and Canadian business card is 3.5 × 2 inches, which is 89 × 51 mm.

Common sizes elsewhere are 85 × 55 mm in Europe, 91 × 55 mm in Japan and 90 × 54 mm in mainland China. These are common print sizes, not one global standard, and the table below lists them with their sources.

What SaulCard exports

The SaulCard export is a 6400×3600 px PNG at 16:9, eight times the size of the 800×450 px preview.

A 3.5 × 2 inch card is 7:4, or 1.75 to 1, while 16:9 is about 1.78 to 1, so the export is slightly wider than a standard card. Keeping the full 3600 px height, a 7:4 crop is 6300 px wide, which means about 100 px of width in total is trimmed, roughly 50 px from each side.

Keep text and the photo away from the left and right edges so a trim like this never touches them. Your print shop can handle the trim or the scaling when it sets up the file.

Resolution at print size

The export has far more pixels than a standard business card needs.

At 300 dpi, a 3.5 × 2 inch card needs 1,050 × 600 px (3.5 × 300 and 2 × 300). The 6400 px width of the export is about six times the 1,050 px that print size requires, so fine lines and text edges stay sharp.

Bleed and safe area

Bleed is the extra background that runs past the trim line, and the safe area is the margin inside the trim line where text stays.

MOO's US standard card has a 3.50 × 2.0 inch trim, a 3.66 × 2.16 inch bleed area and a 3.34 × 1.84 inch safe area. 4OVER4 asks for 3 mm of bleed on every side and for text to stay at least 3 mm inside the trim. Other printers use their own values, so confirm yours with the shop before the final run.

The SaulCard export is the card itself without a bleed margin, so ask the print shop how they want the background handled at the edges.

Saul Goodman business card size: FAQ

What size is a standard business card?

In the US and Canada a standard business card is 3.5 × 2 inches (89 × 51 mm). Europe commonly uses 85 × 55 mm, Japan 91 × 55 mm and mainland China 90 × 54 mm.

What size is the business card in Better Call Saul?

We could not find a reliable published size for the cards made for the series. The sizes on this page are the common print sizes that most print shops work with.

What size is the PNG that SaulCard exports?

The export is 6400×3600 px at 16:9, eight times the size of the 800×450 px on-screen preview.

Will the PNG print at 3.5 × 2 inches?

Yes. A 3.5 × 2 inch card at 300 dpi needs 1,050 × 600 px and the export is far larger. Because 16:9 is a little wider than 7:4, ask the print shop to trim about 100 px of width in total (6300 × 3600 px is exactly 7:4) or to scale the design, and to confirm the safe area.

How much bleed should I add to a business card?

It depends on the printer. MOO lists 0.08 inch of bleed per side for its US standard card and 4OVER4 asks for 3 mm, so confirm your print shop's number before the final run.
